Doha: Students across Qatar returned to campuses today, Sunday, August 31, marking the start of the 2025-2026 academic year. The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) confirmed extensive preparations, including resources, logistics, and staffing, to ensure a smooth launch aimed at enhancing learning outcomes and supporting the country’s knowledge economy.
To
expand capacity, MoEHE has opened 10 new public and private schools, providing
around 6,000 additional seats and hiring 1,124 teachers. A total of 276 schools
underwent comprehensive maintenance, while 2,510 buses have been readied to
transport students, with plans to expand the fleet to 2,750. School
administrations were directed to finalize schedules, distribute textbooks, and
orient new staff.
Assistant
Undersecretary for Educational Affairs, Maha Zayed Al Qaqqa Al Ruwaili,
stressed the ministry’s commitment to a safe, healthy, and stimulating school
environment. This year’s priorities include enhancing curricula on national
identity, Islamic education, Arabic, science, and STEM integration, alongside
partnerships to introduce financial literacy and cybersecurity education.
MoEHE also outlined plans to strengthen inclusive education, expand early learning centers, foster student participation in global competitions, and promote vocational and digital education. The new academic year is part of the ministry’s 2024-2030 strategy to build an integrated education system that aligns with Qatar National Vision 2030, aiming to prepare pioneering learners for sustainable development.
