Doha, Qatar: The General
Directorate of Endowments at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has
received a major real estate endowment from a group of women donors, marking
their first charitable initiative and setting a pioneering example of community
giving in Qatar.
The
donation includes a residential complex of eight villas in Al Khor, a
two-storey villa in Al Wakra, and two residential houses in North Khalifa City.
Revenues from these properties will be directed to four areas: mosques,
healthcare, education and culture, and support for underprivileged families.
Director-General
Eng Hassan bin Abdullah Al-Marzouqi praised the initiative as a model of diversity
in charitable giving, highlighting its role in promoting the culture of
endowment and ensuring sustainable social development. He stressed that real
estate endowments create lasting humanitarian impact as continuous charity
(sadaqah jariyah).
According to the endowment deed, the donors will remain custodians of the properties during their lifetimes, after which supervision will transfer to the General Administration of Endowments. The revenues will be distributed among specialised funds to maximise their social and humanitarian impact.
