India showcases telecom powerhouse capabilities at MWC 2025 Doha

Doha, Qatar: India made a strong impact at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 Doha, with a high-level delegation from the Telcom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) participating in the global technology gathering. The delegation included Mr. Maruthi Prasad Tangirala, Member, and Mr. Rajesh Kumar Agarwal, Advisor, who were joined by the Ambassador of India to Qatar, Mr. Vipul, along with other officials from the Embassy of India.

The Indian delegates took part in the inauguration, thematic sessions, and a series of key engagements throughout the event. During their interactions, they highlighted India’s remarkable achievements in the telecom sector, particularly the development of a fully indigenous 4G (5G-ready) telecom stack-an end-to-end hardware and software ecosystem now under deployment. This advanced stack, engineered for seamless upgradation to 5G, is set to strengthen India’s self-reliance, enhance security of critical telecom infrastructure, and accelerate digital connectivity in rural regions.

They also outlined India’s rapid 5G expansion, supported by progressive spectrum policies and collaborative governance. India is expected to reach one billion 5G subscriptions by 2031, paving the way for the ambitious Bharat 6G Mission, which aims to position the nation as a global leader in next-generation telecom technologies.

Under the ‘Make in India’ initiative, domestic mobile manufacturing has grown swiftly, establishing India as the world’s second-largest mobile handset producer. The country is also globally lauded for its advancements in Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), with the India Stack revolutionizing digital service delivery and governance.

Looking ahead, India is intensifying efforts in emerging domains such as 6G, AI-powered networks, and advanced spectrum bands, reaffirming its commitment to driving the future of global telecom innovation.
