Qatar officially joins Canada’s Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) program

Doha, Qatar: In a significant step reflecting the deepening cooperation between the State of Qatar and the Government of Canada, Qatar has officially joined Canada’s Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) program as of 25 November 2025. The program enables citizens of visa-exempt countries to obtain pre-travel authorization when visiting or transiting through Canada.

Under the new arrangement, Qatari citizens can now secure electronic travel approval within minutes. The eTA is valid for five years, or until the passport’s expiration date-whichever comes first-and permits multiple entries without the need for reapplication. Each visit allows a stay of up to six months. The issuance fee for the eTA is set at 7 Canadian dollars.
