Katara Cultural Village named "Arab Opera City" by ALECSO

In a ceremony held yesterday at its headquarters in Tunisia, the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) announced the selection of the Katara Cultural Village Foundation as the "Arab Opera City." The event was graced by the presence of HE Prof. Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al-Sulaiti, Director General of the Katara Cultural Village Foundation; HE Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director General of ALECSO; HE Zayed bin Saeed Al Kumait Al Khayarin, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Tunisia; along with several ambassadors from Arab countries.

This prestigious title acknowledges Katara's significant role in promoting Arab opera music and enhancing its visibility on both regional and international platforms. Professor Dr. Al-Sulaiti expressed his pride in this recognition, stating, "The selection of Katara as the Arab Opera City honors the Foundation's efforts in supporting musical creativity and preserving Arab cultural identity."

He emphasized that this accolade brings new responsibilities, motivating the Foundation to continue showcasing Arab operatic works that celebrate the beauty of the language and culture. In line with this, Katara will host the inaugural Arab Opera Festival from December 8 to 11, in collaboration with ALECSO, featuring 13 Arab opera houses and a lineup of distinguished Arab artists and creators.
