Doha, Qatar: Reinforcing its commitment to sustainability, experiential learning, and social responsibility, M.E.S Indian School presented a contribution of fresh, organically grown vegetables from its school kitchen garden to the Ministry, under its ‘Learning through Activity’ programme. The initiative symbolised gratitude and support for national efforts promoting healthy, eco-friendly living.
The harvest presentation was held in the presence of School Governing Board members, Section Heads, and senior school officials. The initiative was envisioned and led by the school’s Principal, Dr Hameeda Kadar, who continues to champion hands-on learning and environmental consciousness among students.
A
key highlight of the programme was the students’ visit to the Ministry
headquarters, where they personally presented the organic produce as a gesture
of appreciation. Ministry officials warmly received the delegation, commended
the students’ efforts, and encouraged them to remain actively involved in
meaningful, community-oriented initiatives.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Hameeda Kadar said, “The Kitchen Garden at M.E.S opens up avenues for students to
experience the true value of organic farming and sustainability. This hands-on
initiative goes beyond cultivation-it nurtures a generation of environmentally
conscious and socially responsible citizens.”
The programme was meticulously coordinated by the
Campus Care Force (CCF) team comprising Mr Jency George, Mrs Radhika Rajan, Mrs
Pradnya Pandey, Mrs Bitty Varghese, and Mrs Harisha Boddula, with valuable
support from non-teaching staff members Mrs Ramla K K and Mr Abdul Gaffar.
The
flourishing kitchen garden, cultivated and maintained by the enthusiastic
members of the Campus Care Force, stands as a testament to students’ active
engagement in environmental stewardship. Guided by their teachers, students
diligently carried out daily gardening activities-planting, nurturing, and
harvesting-demonstrating commendable discipline, teamwork, and a strong sense
of responsibility towards nature and the community.
