Doha:
Qatar Airways has been recognised as one of the top-performing airlines for
in-flight Wi-Fi, according to a new report by Ookla, the global leader in
internet speed testing. With median download speeds of 120.6 Mbps, the
airline’s rapid Starlink satellite integration reinforces its leadership in
aviation innovation and digital connectivity.
The
airline, which became the largest global carrier to offer Starlink’s high-speed
internet, has already equipped over 30 aircraft—more than 50% of its Boeing 777
fleet—with the service. This comes just months after Qatar Airways launched the
world’s first Starlink-enabled Boeing 777 flight, surpassing its 2024
installation goals well ahead of time.
Qatar Airways has also significantly reduced installation times to just 9.5 hours per aircraft, ensuring no disruption to flight operations. Alongside Hawaiian Airlines, it stands out for delivering low-latency, high-speed connectivity using Starlink’s low-Earth orbit satellites, setting a new benchmark for onboard passenger experience.
