Doha, Qatar:
Dr. Majed bin Mohammed Al-Ansari, Adviser to the Prime Minister and Official
Spokesperson for Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, emphasized Qatar’s active
role in facilitating progress on the Iranian nuclear agreement, particularly
following the recent ceasefire between Iran and Israel. While no current
negotiations are underway for a Gaza ceasefire, Qatar continues daily
communication with key partners — Egypt and the United States — to revive
talks.
Al-Ansari
expressed deep concern over the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza,
highlighting that over 500 people have died while waiting in aid lines and
condemning reports of unarmed civilians being shot. He stressed that the
international community must not grow numb to the ongoing human suffering, and
reiterated Qatar’s unwavering efforts in humanitarian mediation.
He also
pointed to the positive role of the U.S. in past ceasefires and noted Qatar’s
optimism regarding renewed American engagement in resolving the Gaza crisis.
Meanwhile, H.E. the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs will receive
the prestigious Tipperary International Peace Award in Ireland, recognizing
Qatar’s significant contributions to global peace and humanitarian efforts.
