Qatar launches Qatar Digital Identity (QDI) app to streamline travel and access to digital services

Doha, Qatar: The Qatar Digital Identity (QDI) app, launched in 2024 by the Ministry of Interior, is a revolutionary smart application designed to simplify access to essential documents and government services for citizens and residents.

Serving as a digital wallet, the app provides users with secure, digital copies of key documents, including passports, ID cards, national addresses, driving licenses, establishment registration cards, and even weapon permit cards.

One of the standout features of QDI is its integration with the E-Gate system at Hamad International Airport, enabling seamless entry and exit for travelers. In a video shared on the Ministry's official social media channels, the process for using the app at the E-Gates was demonstrated:

1.   Download the Qatar Digital Identity app and log in.

2.   Locate the correct Travel Document Card by swiping through the digital wallet.

3.   Verify your identity through facial recognition by tapping the icon at the top of the card.

4.   Scan the phone at the E-Gate scanner to confirm your identity and enjoy a hassle-free travel experience.

Beyond travel, the QDI app offers a wide range of services, including:

  • Biometric activation and login.
  • Access to the Ministry of Interior’s electronic services website.
  • A secure digital wallet for documents and certificates.
  • Electronic signature and document verification.
  • Easy access to digitally signed certificates and identity verification.
