Doha: Qatar Malayalees, the largest Malayali social media community in Qatar, has officially announced Qatar Pooram Season 2, a grand cultural festival celebrating the rich traditions and unity of the Malayali community in the country. The announcement was made during a press conference held on Monday, attended by representatives of Qatar Malayalis, 974 Events, key sponsors, and community partners.
Qatar Pooram 2026 will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026, at the Ideal Indian School, Abu Hamour. The
organisers expressed confidence that Malayalis across Qatar will participate
enthusiastically in what is envisioned as one of the largest cultural
gatherings of the community in the country.
The
festival aims to recreate the vibrant atmosphere of Kerala’s traditional
Poorams while fully adhering to Qatar’s legal and cultural framework. The venue
is being prepared to reflect the festive spirit of Poorams back home, offering
a nostalgic and immersive experience for visitors. The event will serve as a
common platform for the Malayali community to come together through traditional
music, dance, art, and the diverse culinary heritage of Kerala.
Qatar
Pooram Season 2 will feature a wide array of cultural performances showcasing
Kerala’s artistic legacy, including traditional
dances, music bands, muttipattu, kaikkottikkali, panchari melam, band vadyam,
oppana, and kolkali. In addition to stage performances, the festival
will host food stalls offering authentic Kerala flavours, henna application,
traditional clothing sales, face painting, and various entertainment activities
catering to all age groups.
Beyond
cultural celebrations, the Pooram will also provide business and community networking opportunities, strengthening
ties between cultural, social, and business organisations within the Malayali
diaspora in Qatar.
The
festival will run from 2:00 pm to 11:00
pm, with the official
inauguration ceremony scheduled for 7:30 pm, to be attended by
distinguished guests and representatives of various organisations.
Organisers
stated that Qatar Pooram Season 2 is not merely an event, but a celebration of
tradition, unity, and cultural pride. Qatar Malayalis have called upon the
public, business community, and organisations to actively participate and
support the event to make it a grand success.
