Doha: The Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has confirmed that the earthquake which struck southwestern Iran does not pose any threat to the State of Qatar.
The
Qatar Seismic Information Network recorded the earthquake at a magnitude of 5.3 on the Richter scale,
occurring at 8:11 am Doha time,
approximately 263
kilometres northeast of Doha, according to the Meteorology
Department.
Head of the Qatar Seismic Network, Ibrahim Khalil Al Youssef, explained that the affected region is seismically active due to ongoing tectonic movement between the Arabian and Eurasian plates, reassuring citizens and residents that such tremors do not pose any danger to Qatar.
