Over 1,000 runners from 60 countries light up Gulf Madhyamam ‘Qatar Run’ in Doha

Doha, Qatar: The seventh edition of the Gulf Madhyamam ‘Qatar Run’ witnessed tremendous excitement on Friday morning, as more than 1,000 runners representing over 60 countries participated in the event at Aspire Park, Doha. Held amidst pleasant winter weather, the run transformed the green expanse of Aspire Park into a vibrant sporting arena, drawing locals and expatriates alike.


The competitions officially began at 7:00 am, with runners gathering at the venue nearly an hour earlier. Athletes, including children, women, and men, arrived with family members, creating a festive atmosphere. Thousands thronged the park in the early hours, reflecting the growing popularity of the event among Qatar’s diverse community.

Prior to the race, participants took part in Zumba sessions led by the team headed by Sin Mug the Sarnaik, along with professional warm-up exercises conducted by trainers from Rocka Power Gym. The sessions included interval training, pre-run warm-ups, and post-run cool-down exercises. Several fun activities were also organised for children near the venue, adding to the family-friendly appeal of the event.

The races were flagged off starting with the 10-kilometre category, followed by other distances. Strong participation was seen in the open category (ages 16–40) for both men and women, while more than 200 runners competed in the masters category across age groups. Special races were organised for children, including Mini Kids (ages 3–6) and primary, secondary, and junior categories for school students. All finishers were welcomed with applause and awarded medals.
