Doha: The
drug menace is growing at an alarming rate, and a drug-free society can only be
achieved through strong legal measures alongside good companionship and moral
discipline, said Dr. Abdul Nasser Mahboobi, Executive Officer of the Kerala
Waqf Board.
He
was speaking at the inauguration of a group discussion jointly organised by
Media Plus, Mindtune Ecowaves, and The Way Corporate Services to mark
International Day Against Drug Abuse.
Dr.
Mahboobi said that to practically and constructively steer people away from
drugs, it is not enough to simply convey messages through words; it is
essential to connect heart to heart. He called on society to unite against the
growing drug menace, adding that social change is possible when clear action
plans are developed through good networks and value systems. Morality, customs,
and traditions are what bind a society together, he noted.
He
reminded families and organisations of their significant role in creating a
drug-free environment. Representatives from various sectors of the expatriate
community participated in the discussion.
Ishan
Khan, a student at Scholars International School, spoke on behalf of the
student community, emphasising the need to ensure a drug-free environment for

drugs, get a job." Ayesha Saibul, Clinical Psychologist at Asta Sol, spoke
