Doha: Birla Public School hosted the CBSE Qatar Cluster Chess Tournament 2026 from June 2 to 4, bringing together talented young chess players from 18 schools across Qatar. The three-day tournament provided an excellent platform for students to showcase their strategic thinking, concentration, analytical skills, and sportsmanship.

The tournament was officially declared open by Principal Dr. Anand R. Nair, with Vice-Principals Ms. Radhika Rele and Ms. Edna Fernandez ceremonially moving the chess pieces to formally commence the event. The tournament witnessed enthusiastic participation and intense yet friendly competition across various age categories, reflecting the growing popularity of chess among students in the region.

Public School delivered an outstanding performance, securing the Overall Boys
Category Runners-Up Trophy, Under-11 Boys Champions, Under-14 Girls Champions,
and Under-19 Boys Runners-Up. The Principal and School Management congratulated
all participants and winners, expressing appreciation to the participating
schools, tournament officials, coaches, and organising committee members for
their collective efforts.
The tournament concluded on a high note, fostering healthy competition, intellectual growth, teamwork, and camaraderie among students from different schools, while reinforcing values of discipline, perseverance, respect, and fair play.
