New Delhi: Hundreds of students and young people gathered at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on Saturday under the banner of the viral online movement "Cockroach Janta Party" (CJP), demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged mismanagement of public examinations.
The
movement, launched by US-based Indian student Abhijeet Dipke, gained massive
traction on social media after India’s Chief Justice Surya Kant compared
holders of fake degrees to "parasites and cockroaches." Protesters
cited repeated exam paper leak controversies and issues in school examination
processes, accusing authorities of failing millions of students.
Carrying
placards reading "Cockroach never die" and "How many times will
there be a paper leak government?", demonstrators raised slogans demanding
accountability and better opportunities for youth. The movement describes
itself as the "Voice of the Burnt-out Youth," representing frustrated
and unemployed young Indians.
