D K Shivakumar takes oath as 24th Chief Minister of Karnataka

Bengaluru: Congress veteran D K Shivakumar took oath as the 24th Chief Minister of Karnataka on Wednesday at a ceremony held at Lok Bhavan in Bengaluru. Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot administered the oath of office and secrecy.

Senior Congress leader G Parameshwara also took oath as a minister and has been appointed as Deputy Chief Minister. Before the oath-taking, all five stanzas of 'Vande Mataram' were recited, followed by the national anthem and Karnataka's state song.

Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was present at the ceremony. AICC chief Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, Telangana CM Revanth Reddy, and Kerala CM V D Satheesan also attended. Shivakumar greeted each of them with bouquets before the swearing-in.
