The Gaza Health Ministry reported on Sunday that the death toll in the Palestinian territory has surpassed 50,021 since the conflict with Israel began on October 7, 2023. In addition, the ministry indicated that 113,274 individuals have been injured since the onset of hostilities.

Gaza's civil defense agency backed up the health ministry's numbers, confirming that more than 50,000 lives have been lost. While international agencies have not been able to independently verify these figures, the United Nations has referred to the health ministry's data as credible.

The spike in the death toll came after the collapse of a ceasefire that had been holding since January 19. Following the breakdown of ceasefire, Israel launched extensive airstrikes throughout Gaza and reactivated its ground offensive in the territory.
