Qatar’s Ministry of Interior has reminded taxi, limousine, and public transport bus drivers of the importance of obtaining a valid public driving license. This license is required to legally operate these vehicles, ensuring compliance with local regulations and promoting road safety.
The Ministry of Interior in a social media post stated that: "Driving taxis, limousines, buses, or public transport vehicles without obtaining the prescribed public driving licence for each type of vehicle constitutes a traffic violation, in accordance with Articles (30), (31), and (32) of Traffic Law No. (19) of 2007".
Ministry also added the requirements and conditions for obtaining a public driving license for limousine, taxi and public transport buses:-
- Obtain a Certificate of Good Conduct.
- Have held a mechanical vehicle driving licence for at least two years.
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- Be medically fit.
- Have adequate knowledge of the country's key facilities and geographical areas.
- Be dedicated to this profession on a full-time basis.
- Be sponsored by a company operating limousine, taxi, or public transport bus services.
- Have "Driver" listed as the profession on the residence permit.
