Doha:
Marking World Environment Day with creativity, awareness, and community
participation, the Indian Association of Bihar & Jharkhand (IABJ), a
registered organization under the Indian Cultural Centre (ICC) functioning
under the aegis of the Embassy of India in Qatar, successfully organized a
Painting and Sketching Competition at Bengaluru Hall, ICC, Doha.

Held
under the theme "Reflect and Learn
Together," the event aimed to encourage children and young
artists to express their love for nature and promote environmental
consciousness through art. The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation
from students across different age groups, while parents and community members
gathered in large numbers to support and encourage the young participants.
The competition was conducted in four categories - Crayon Group (Grades 1-3), Colour Pencil Group (Grades 4-6), Water Colour Group (Grades 7-12), and a Special Pencil Sketch Category open to all age groups. Participants showcased exceptional creativity, artistic skills, and environmental awareness through their paintings and sketches, highlighting the importance of protecting nature and building a sustainable future.
The
entries were evaluated by a distinguished panel of judges comprising Mrs.
Warisha Khan, Mr. Manikandan Karunakaran, and Mr. Tessema T. Asrate. The judges
praised the high quality of artwork and the meaningful environmental messages
conveyed by the young artists.
The
event was graced by ICC President Mr. A.P. Manikantan as the Chief Guest, along
with Mr. Abraham, whose presence added significance to the celebration and
motivated the participants.
The
programme was organized under the leadership of Dr. Sarita Singh, President of
IABJ, and Mr. Kanhaiya Singh, General Secretary. The successful execution of
the event was supported by the dedicated efforts of Executive Committee members
Mr. Jahangir Alam, Mrs. Rupali, Mrs. Anuradha, Mrs. Yasmin Ruhi, Mr. Neelanshu
Jamuar, Mr. Birendra Singh, and Mr. Manish Jayaswal.
The
event was elegantly anchored by Er. Seema Bhardwaj, whose lively presentation
and engaging interaction with participants and parents added energy and
enthusiasm throughout the programme.
Winners
in each category were awarded First, Second, and Third prizes, while all
participants received participation certificates and refreshments in
recognition of their efforts and creativity.
A
special felicitation ceremony was also held to honour Mr. George V. Joy for his
valuable contribution in conducting a Mental Health Awareness Session for the
community. The IABJ organizing committee expressed its gratitude and presented
him with a token of appreciation in recognition of his efforts toward promoting
mental well-being.
Speaking
on the occasion, IABJ representatives highlighted the importance of involving
children in environmental initiatives and nurturing a sense of responsibility
towards nature from an early age. They emphasized that creating awareness among
the younger generation is essential for building a greener and more sustainable
future.
Filled with creativity, learning, and community spirit, the event turned World Environment Day into a memorable celebration for all attendees. The programme concluded with the powerful message, "Strengthening the Environment, Supporting the Earth," reinforcing the collective responsibility of protecting nature and preserving the planet for future generations.
