Doha: As part of its ongoing community service initiatives for the Indian expatriate community in Qatar, the Indian Community Benevolent Forum (ICBF), in collaboration with Hamad Medical Corporation, organised a blood platelet donation camp at the Qatar National Blood Donation Centre.

The campaign aimed to raise awareness
about the importance of platelet donation and encourage greater community
participation in this life-saving effort. Platelets are essential for patients
undergoing cancer treatment, major surgeries such as organ transplants, and
those suffering from blood disorders or serious injuries. Due to their short
shelf life, a continuous supply of committed donors is essential to ensure
availability.
First Secretary at the Indian Embassy
and ICBF Coordinating Officer, Shri Eash Singh, officially inaugurated the
camp. He commended the ICBF management committee, Hamad Medical Corporation,
community volunteers, and the social workers who came forward to donate
platelets. He noted that the initiative is timely and reflects the Indian
community's solidarity with Qatar, our second home.
More than 50 volunteers from various
Indian states donated platelets. ICBF President Shanavas Bava presided over the
ceremony. General Secretary Deepak Shetty delivered the welcome address, and
Health Wing Incharge Mini Siby proposed the vote of thanks. The event was
coordinated by Vice President Rashid Ahmed, Secretary Jafar Thayyil, and
management committee members Mani Bharathi, Neelambari S., Amar Veer Singh,
Khaja Nizamuddin, Irfan Ansari, and Shankar Gowd.
ICBF Advisory Council Chairman Prasad Garu, Programme Committee Chairman K.V. Boban, former President Abdul Khader, representatives of various apex bodies and associate organisations, and prominent community leaders attended the event.
