Doha, Qatar: Fourteen
expatriates who spent decades working in Qatar without the opportunity to bring
their spouses were given a warm and emotional welcome by the Indian community
in Doha. The special reception, held at the Holiday Inn Hotel on February 19,
was part of the heartfelt initiative ‘For My Love’ by Radio Malayalam 98.6 FM,
a station under the QFM Radio Network.
This
unique campaign, now in its fifth edition, aims to reunite long-serving
expatriates—who have lived in Qatar for over 25 years but could not afford to
bring their spouses—with their life partners. The initiative, which first began
in 2018, has successfully brought together 10, 11, 12, and 13 couples in
previous years, making this year’s edition the most impactful yet.
Supported
by the community, media, and commercial organizations, the campaign fulfills
the long-cherished dreams of these expatriates who have sacrificed personal
happiness for the welfare of their families. The selection process involved
radio listeners who nominated and voted for the 14 deserving candidates.
The couples’ visit, scheduled from February 18 to
23, 2025, includes a tour of Qatar, accompanied by an RJ from Radio Malayalam.
The selected individuals come from diverse backgrounds, many having endured
financial hardships that kept them apart from their families for decades.
Moreover, the RJs have planned various cultural activities
and will participate in expatriate gatherings. Among the 14 beneficiaries are
those who, despite their old age, have been forced to live away from their
families due to financial hardships, sacrificing their comfort and happiness to
support their loved ones.
By continuing this noble initiative, Radio Malayalam 98.6 FM once again reaffirms its commitment to the expatriate community in Qatar, making a lasting difference in the lives of those who have dedicated their years to the nation’s progress
