Tehran:
Iran’s Civil Aviation Authority announced the partial reopening of its airspace
on Saturday morning, specifically for international flights transiting through
the eastern portion of its territory. The agency also reported that several
airports resumed operations as of 7:00 am local time (0330 GMT).
Despite
the official announcement, flight tracking data initially showed that
international carriers were continuing to avoid Iranian airspace, opting for
lengthy detours instead. The cautious response from the global aviation
community follows a period of heightened regional tension and restricted air
travel.
The move is seen as a step toward normalizing civil aviation in the region, although full resumption of transit traffic may take time as airlines reassess safety protocols and regional stability.
