This development further dashed hopes for resolving the crisis after new attacks on shipping in the region on Tuesday.
The June agreement declared an "immediate and permanent termination of military operations on all fronts," but quickly unraveled. US President Donald Trump declared the deal "over" on July 7, and Iran's foreign ministry announced it "suspended" a week later. The US accuses Iran of failing to honor its commitment to reopen the vital Strait of Hormuz shipping route, while Tehran claims Washington has not fulfilled its commitments, including lifting a blockade of Iranian ports and releasing frozen Iranian assets.
