Madrid: Millions of people across Spain and Iceland witnessed a spectacular total solar eclipse on Wednesday, August 12, as the Moon completely blocked the Sun along the path of totality, briefly plunging areas into darkness. The event marked the first total solar eclipse visible across a significant part of Europe since 1999.

Spain became one of the main destinations for eclipse watchers, with authorities estimating that as many as six million visitors could travel to areas along the path of totality, including northern Spain and the Balearic Islands. The eclipse occurred shortly before sunset in Spain, creating a dramatic celestial spectacle as daylight rapidly faded.

Iceland also attracted large numbers of international visitors for the rare event, with tens of thousands travelling to the country to experience totality. The eclipse briefly transformed daytime skies into twilight as spectators gathered at viewing locations across the affected regions.
