Iran
has threatened to target ports across the Gulf and Gulf of Oman if its own
maritime access is restricted by a new U.S. blockade. The warning follows the
collapse of high-level diplomatic talks in Islamabad and the subsequent start
of a U.S. Central Command naval operation to block all vessels entering or
leaving Iranian ports.
An Iranian military spokesperson condemned the U.S. move as "piracy" and stated that no regional port would remain secure if Iran's maritime trade is threatened. Tensions have spiked as oil prices surge and a fragile ceasefire remains in jeopardy, with both nations maintaining a hardline stance over the control of strategic waterways.
