Doha,
Qatar: The Ministry of Public Health has highlighted the importance of
workplace safety on the occasion of World Day for Safety and Health at Work,
emphasizing safe lifting techniques to prevent injuries.
Workers
are advised to avoid twisting their spine while carrying heavy objects, instead
moving their feet to change direction to minimize back strain. Loads should be
kept below shoulder height for better control, and individuals should avoid
bending at the waist.
When
lifting, the ministry recommends positioning feet shoulder-width apart, keeping
the chest up, pushing through the heels, and keeping the load close to the body
at all times.
"Workplace safety is everyone's responsibility. Together towards safer workplaces and a healthier future," the ministry stated.
