MoI warns public to stay vigilant against cybersecurity threats

Doha: The Ministry of Interior has warned that employees are the weakest link in the cybersecurity chain, urging both individuals and organisations to strengthen their awareness of cyber threats.

Speaking at an awareness webinar, Lt Yousef Ashraf Al Mulla highlighted key principles including confidentiality, integrity, and availability, and noted that a single act of negligence could lead to data breaches, financial losses, and reputational damage. The programme addressed threats including phishing, ransomware, malware, social engineering, and denial-of-service attacks.

Lt Al Mulla emphasised that the Ministry does not conduct video calls to request personal information, urging the public to verify suspicious communications through official channels and report incidents to the Cybercrime Prevention Department. Citizens and residents were also advised not to pay ransoms, and to use strong passwords, multi-factor authentication, regular software updates, and data backups.
