Doha: The Ministry of Public Health has introduced
a set of preventive guidelines aimed at reducing injuries among children,
senior citizens and road users.
The ministry said the guidance focuses on
practical measures to lower the risk of accidents at home and on the streets.
Officials noted that preventable injuries remain a significant public health
concern and can have long-term consequences for individuals and families.
For children, the recommendations highlight the
importance of close supervision, safe storage of medicines and sharp objects,
and the use of protective barriers in homes to prevent falls. Caregivers are
also advised to ensure safe play environments.
In addressing the needs of older adults, the
ministry encouraged regular health monitoring, safer home arrangements and the
use of assistive devices where necessary to minimise the risk of falls and
related injuries.
Road safety measures form another key part of the
guidelines. Drivers are urged to observe speed limits, wear seatbelts and avoid
distractions, while pedestrians are reminded to use designated crossings and
remain alert in traffic zones.
Officials said the initiative forms part of
ongoing efforts to strengthen public safety awareness and reduce preventable
injuries across the community.
