Doha: Qatar’s Ministry of
Public Health (MoPH) has issued a new circular regarding the importation of
pharmaceutical products. Effective immediately, all imported medicines must
have at least two-thirds of their shelf life remaining upon entry into the
country.
The directive, released
by the Department of Pharmacy and Drug Control, is designed to enhance quality
standards and ensure the safety of medicines available in Qatar. Licensed
pharmaceutical agents and importers are required to comply with these
regulations unless they obtain an official exemption through the department’s
approved Exemptions Guide.
Failure to adhere to these guidelines may result in various regulatory actions, including the suspension or revocation of exemption approvals, enhanced audits, or other corrective measures in accordance with national laws. This new mandate overrides any previous instructions regarding the remaining shelf life for medicinal imports.
