Doha, Qatar: Qatar commenced their campaign in the Gulf qualifiers for the FIBA U18 Asia Cup with a hard-fought 80-76 victory over Saudi Arabia on Sunday at Al Gharafa Hall. Despite trailing 18-15 at the end of the first quarter, Qatar rallied to seize control and held off Saudi Arabia in the final stages to clinch the win.
Abdullah Yassin led all scorers with 24 points for Qatar, while Ali Al Soumal topped Saudi Arabia's effort with 21 points. This victory earned Qatar their first two points in the qualifying campaign.
