Doha, Qatar: The Qatar U18 national basketball team has taken another decisive step toward its goal in the Gulf qualifiers for the Asian Championship, continuing its strong performances with a second consecutive victory in the tournament currently underway in Doha. This latest win bolstered Qatar's position at the top of the standings, tying with Bahrain at 4 points.

Qatar's recent triumph came in the second round of the qualifiers after they convincingly defeated Kuwait 81-53 on Monday evening, 27 July 2026. This result underscores the team's readiness to compete vigorously for one of the two qualifying spots for the continental finals, set to take place in Ahmedabad, India, this August.

The Gulf qualifiers, held at Al Gharafa Sports Hall from 25 to 30 July, feature five teams: Qatar, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Oman. The teams are competing in a single round-robin format to determine the top two teams that will advance to the Asian Championship.

Qatar's second win reflects an impressive start to the competition, following a thrilling 80-76 victory over Saudi Arabia in their opening match. The team demonstrated high focus and fighting spirit in crucial moments to secure their victories. Throughout both games, Qatar has shown growing cohesion, tactical flexibility, and effective use of defensive organization, fast transitions, and individual talent.
