Doha, Qatar: The General Authority of Customs has successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle substantial quantities of prohibited tobacco products into the country via maritime shipment.
In a recent social media announcement, customs officials revealed that officers at Doha Port and Northern Ports intercepted 1,650 kilograms of chewing tobacco and 22,005 packs of cigarettes concealed within a vessel.
According to Qatar Customs, the contraband was strategically hidden in concealed compartments to evade customs duties and circumvent inspection protocols, thereby violating the nation's customs laws and regulations.
