Doha: Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) said mediation efforts between the United States and Iran are continuing, with talks ongoing and messages being exchanged between the two sides.
MoFA
Director of Media and Communication Ibrahim bin Sultan Al Hashmi said Qatar is
continuing its role as a mediator, stressing the need to find negotiable
solutions that address the concerns of all parties.
On
regional developments, Al Hashmi said Qatar supports initiatives aimed at
safeguarding the security, sovereignty and territorial integrity of regional
states, including the “Mecca Pact”. He also reaffirmed Qatar’s support for
Saudi Arabia in measures taken to protect its security and territory.
Al
Hashmi said it is too early to discuss Qatar joining the Mecca Pact, while
reiterating Qatar’s support for efforts that contribute to regional security
and stability.
