Qatar has officially secured their place in the FIBA Asia Cup 2025, marking the end of nearly a decade of waiting for basketball fans in the Gulf nation. Qatar triumphed over Kazakhstan with a convincing 92-71 victory, showcasing their prowess on the court.
From the outset, Qatar established dominance, taking control of the game and building a substantial lead as they progressed into the second quarter. This decisive performance ensured that they would not look back, ultimately clinching their spot in the prestigious continental tournament after an eight-year absence.
The last time Qatar qualified for the Asia Cup was in 2017 in Lebanon, where they finished 13th among 16 competing teams, with Australia claiming the championship in their debut appearance. With this latest achievement, Qatar is set for their 11th appearance in the Asia Cup, entering the tournament with the ambition to surprise the competition in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
