US President Donald Trump announced that the United States will delay
planned military strikes on Iran’s energy infrastructure for five days,
following what he described as “very good and productive conversations” between
the two sides over the past two days. The discussions are aimed at achieving a
“complete and total resolution” to ongoing hostilities in the Middle East,
raising hopes for a diplomatic breakthrough.
Meanwhile,
tensions remain high as Iran’s National Defence Council warned that any attempt
to attack its coasts or islands would lead to all communication routes in the
Persian Gulf being mined, especially as the deadline set by Trump for reopening
the Strait of Hormuz expires. The temporary delay in strikes is seen as a
crucial window for negotiations, though no formal agreement has yet been
confirmed.
