US President Donald Trump has given Hamas until Sunday evening to accept his proposed Gaza peace deal, warning that failure to comply would trigger unprecedented military action. “If this LAST CHANCE agreement is not reached, all HELL, like no one has ever seen before, will break out against Hamas,” Trump declared in a social media post on Friday.
The
plan, unveiled earlier this week with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin
Netanyahu, calls for Hamas to disarm, release hostages, and relinquish any governing
role in Gaza. In return, surviving fighters would be allowed to leave the
enclave, and aid would be permitted to enter. Trump stressed that civilians
would not be forced to evacuate, a measure he had previously suggested.
Under
the proposal, Gaza would be overseen by a temporary governing body led by Trump
himself, with former British Prime Minister Tony Blair among its members. An
international stabilisation force would also work alongside Palestinian police
and border officials.
Hamas has said it is reviewing the plan and will respond soon. Critics, however, argue the proposal heavily favours Israel and sidelines Palestinian aspirations for statehood, raising doubts about its acceptance and long-term viability.
