US strikes near Hormuz as Iran-Qatar talks continue

Tensions in the region escalated on Day 88 of the Iran conflict after United States forces confirmed carrying out attacks in southern Iran, describing the operations as acts of “self-defence.” The strikes reportedly targeted areas near the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.

Earlier, Iranian media reported explosions in the southern port city of Bandar Abbas, a key maritime hub located close to the Strait of Hormuz - one of the world’s most crucial oil and gas shipping routes through which nearly one-fifth of global energy supplies pass.

Meanwhile, an Iranian delegation has arrived in Qatar for ongoing diplomatic talks, raising hopes for possible de-escalation amid growing regional uncertainty and concerns over global energy security.
