Tensions in the
region escalated on Day 88 of the Iran conflict after United States forces
confirmed carrying out attacks in southern Iran, describing the operations as
acts of “self-defence.” The strikes reportedly targeted areas near the
strategically important Strait of Hormuz.
Earlier, Iranian
media reported explosions in the southern port city of Bandar Abbas, a key
maritime hub located close to the Strait of Hormuz - one of the world’s most
crucial oil and gas shipping routes through which nearly one-fifth of global
energy supplies pass.
Meanwhile, an Iranian delegation has arrived in Qatar for ongoing diplomatic talks, raising hopes for possible de-escalation amid growing regional uncertainty and concerns over global energy security.
