Doha: The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has unveiled a massive five-year strategic plan worth QR81 billion to implement a wide range of infrastructure projects across Qatar. The plan, covering the period from 2025 to 2029, marks the largest in Ashghal’s history in terms of investment volume and project scope.
Director
of the Road Projects Department at Ashghal, Salem Al-Shawi Al-Marri, outlined
the major components and national benefits of the upcoming initiatives during a
recent interview with Qatar TV. He stated that the comprehensive plan will
serve various sectors, including residential, public buildings, drainage
systems, and transportation networks.
The
new strategy includes key developments in residential infrastructure, targeting
both existing and newly allocated land plots for Qatari citizens. Projects will
involve the construction of essential services such as drainage systems, sewer
networks, street lighting, landscaping, and beautification works, with a focus
on enhancing road safety, especially near schools and healthcare facilities.
A significant component of the plan is the construction of two strategic rainwater tunnels in northern and southern Doha. In addition, Ashghal will implement Phase Two of the Wakra and Al Wukair Wastewater Treatment Plant through a public-private partnership. All projects will adhere to international standards, emphasizing environmental responsibility, resident safety, and improved connectivity with major road networks.
