Doha, Qatar – The State of Qatar has welcomed the announcement by French President Emmanuel Macron expressing his country's intention to recognize the State of Palestine. The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs praised the move as a meaningful step toward supporting the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
In
a statement, the Ministry emphasized that France’s position reflects the
growing international consensus on ending the Israeli occupation and enabling
Palestinians to exercise their right to self-determination. It reaffirmed
Qatar’s consistent stance on the establishment of an independent Palestinian
state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The
Ministry described the announcement as a constructive development aligned with
international legitimacy and United Nations Security Council resolutions. It
also viewed the move as contributing positively to efforts aimed at achieving a
just and lasting peace in the region.
Qatar reiterated its call for all countries that have yet to recognize the State of Palestine to follow suit. The Ministry stressed that such recognition reflects a genuine commitment to international law and supports the historical and inalienable rights of the Palestinian people to their land.
