Chaliyar Festival 2025 captivates Doha with a grand visual and cultural extravaganza

Doha: As part of the 10th anniversary celebrations of Chaliyar Doha, the ZedEx Cargo Presents Chaliyar Festival 2025 transformed the Wukair Noble International School Auditorium into a vibrant stage of culture, history, and art. Beginning at 4 pm, the festival offered a spectacular visual experience, showcasing the rich heritage and essence of Chaliyar through performances by various panchayat groups.


The event beautifully narrated the history, culture, and geography of each panchayat along the Chaliyar River-from its origin in Pothukallu to its meeting point in Beypore. Panchayat teams mesmerized the audience with a diverse array of traditional and contemporary art forms, including welcome dance, cinematic dance, fusion performances, Kolkkali, Oppana, Thiruvathira, Margamkali, comedy skits, and even a powerful visual depiction of the historic Chooralmala disaster. The auditorium remained fully engaged as each performance unfolded like a living story.


Adding to the festive high, the crowd erupted with cheers during the musical segment led by Media One Panthinalam Raav title winner and film playback singers Badusha and Salman, whose energetic performance turned the auditorium into a celebration of music and rhythm.


A major highlight of the evening was the official launch of the Chaliyar Doha website, performed by Dr. Vaibhav Thandale, Consular - Embassy of India, in the presence of the Chaliyar Doha MC members. ZedEx Cargo also awarded prizes to the winners of Chaliyar Doha’s Instagram competitions during the stage ceremony.


Chaliyar Doha President CT Siddique Cheruvadi presided over the inaugural session, while General Secretary Sabikhusalam Edavanna delivered the welcome address. The festival was formally inaugurated by Dr. Vaibhav Thandale, who also honored Mashood VC Thiruthiyaad, the founding visionary and first president of Chaliyar Doha, with a special memento.


The event witnessed the presence of several distinguished guests including Community Police Department First Lieutenant Abdul Aziz Mohannadi, ZedEx Cargo Marketing Consultant Shara Hashmi, Marine Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Company MD and Chaliyar Doha Chief Patron Shoukathali T A J, ICC President Manikandan, ICBF President Shanavas Bava, ISC Secretary Basheer Thuvarikkal, Chaliyar Doha Chief Advisor Sameel Abdul Wahid, and Chaliyar Doha Women’s Wing President Muhsina Sameel, who all addressed the gathering.

Popular Radio Suno RJ Ashtami skillfully hosted the event, adding charm and energy to the evening.


Key office bearers such as Chaliyar Utsavam Vice Chairman Siddique Vazhakkad, Chaliyar Doha Patron Noufal Kattayat, Vice President Jaisal Vazhakkad, and Program Director Suneer Babu were also present, contributing to the event’s smooth execution.


In recognition of the artists and contributors, mementos and certificates were distributed by the organizing committee members including Noufal Aman Kavanur, Rashil Vazhakkad, Razak Ramanattukara, Sajas Kadalundi, Rauf Malayil, Sadikali Konnalath, Lais Kuniyil, Abdur Rahman PC Mampat, Ahmed Niyas Moorkanad, Rasheedali Pothukallu, Abdul Manaf Edavanna, Akbar Vazhakkad, Femina, Shana Nasrin, Mujeeb Cheekkode, Ashraf Mampat, Shaji PC Kuniyil, Haneefa Chaliyam, Ameer Shaji Areekode, Sarath Vazhayur, and Asif Kakkov.


The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Chaliyar Doha Treasurer Abdul Aziz Cheruvannur, marking the end of a truly memorable cultural festival that celebrated ten years of unity, heritage, and community.
