Qatar rises to world No. 2 in global mobile speed, strengthening Its digital leadership

Qatar has reached a major digital milestone, securing the #2 position globally for median mobile download speed in the October 2025 Speedtest Global Index. With 587 Mbps, the country now ranks just behind the UAE, highlighting rapid progress in mobile connectivity and overall digital infrastructure.

This achievement comes as Doha hosts the Mobile World Congress (MWC Doha) on November 25–26, followed by the AI Summit from December 10–12, 2025. These high-profile global events underline Qatar’s growing status as a regional hub for digital innovation, investment, and technology leadership.

Qatar’s rise aligns with the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030, which prioritizes strong digital foundations to support economic diversification and human development. With operators already testing 5G Advanced uplink speeds above 600 Mbps, the country is preparing for next-generation networks and future technologies such as 6G—strengthening its competitiveness and enhancing nationwide smart services.
