His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani participated in the G20 Summit 2025, held in Johannesburg under the theme “Solidarity, Equality, Sustainability.” The summit brought together leaders of G20 member states, heads of government, and representatives of regional and international organizations. Members of the official delegation accompanying His Highness also attended the high-level gathering.

In a post on his official account on the ‘X’ platform, His Highness expressed his appreciation to South African President Cyril Ramaphosa for the invitation, describing the summit as pivotal. He voiced hope that the discussions and outcomes would support solutions to pressing economic priorities and global challenges, in a way that advances the aspirations of all nations for solidarity, equality, and sustainability.

Following his participation, His Highness the Amir departed South Africa, concluding a significant stop in his broader African tour, which had earlier included Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Analysts note that the tour reflects Qatar’s growing international engagement and its commitment to strengthening political, economic, and development partnerships across the African continent.
