Ministry of Public Health announces reductions in drug prices, cuts costs of 1,019 products

Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has announced significant reductions in the prices of 1,019 pharmaceutical products available in the local market, with discounts ranging from 15% to 75%.

The revised prices cover a wide range of therapeutic groups, including medicines for heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, pain management, anti-inflammatory conditions, cancer treatments, antibiotics, immune disorders, allergy relief, antidepressants, psychiatric care, gastrointestinal diseases, and weight management.

Dr. Aisha Ibrahim Al Ansari, Director of the Pharmacy and Drug Control Department at MoPH, said that the Ministry regularly reviews medicine prices to ensure affordability. “We focus on the most commonly used therapeutic groups to make them available at lower costs, with the eventual goal of extending this approach to all categories of medicines,” she explained.

She reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to providing high-quality medicines at affordable prices for all residents, in line with the country’s sustainable healthcare development goals.

Medicine pricing in Qatar is determined during registration based on international regulations, including the manufacturing cost in the country of origin, approved reference prices, and the cost of alternatives available in the local market.

The updated list of registered pharmaceutical products and their revised prices is available on the Ministry of Public Health’s official website: MoPH Medicine Price List.
