Doha, Qarar: The Qatar Calendar House has announced that residents of Qatar will be able to the opportunity to witness the Orionid meteor shower, set to peak on the evening of Tuesday, October 21, 2025, and continue into the early hours of Wednesday, October 22.
Dr. Bashir Marzouq, an astronomy expert at the Qatar Calendar House, highlighted the significance of the Orionid meteor shower, which is active annually from October 2 to November 2, reaching its zenith on October 21st. With an estimated rate of about 30 meteors per hour at its peak, this unique meteor shower offers a spectacular view.
Residents are encouraged to find locations far from environmental and light pollution to observe the meteor shower with the naked eye, looking towards the eastern horizon from 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday until dawn on Wednesday. The crescent phase of the moon this year provides optimal viewing conditions, as it will set before sunset on Tuesday, ensuring a darker sky for the event.
