‘Smarananjali Season 4’ by Gramophone Qatar pays heartfelt tribute to Malayalam lyricists

Doha, Qatar: In a soulful tribute to the lyricists who enriched the Malayalam music world with their immortal words, Gramophone Qatar hosted “Smarananjali Season 4” at the Wakra DPS Auditorium on October 24. The event beautifully blended the tradition and culture of Malayalam music, captivating audiences with a nostalgic journey through timeless melodies.


The program connected Malayalam film songs through narratives that highlighted the sweetness of music and the poetic beauty of lyrics, while also introducing the composers and sharing the stories behind their creations. The evening concluded with an enchanting performance of classic Mappila songs, retaining their authentic rhythm and emotion - a refreshing experience for Doha’s music lovers.

Presented by Dr. Rasheed Pattath, the event featured mesmerizing performances by Doha-based singers including Shivapriya, Mythili, Riyas, Manikantadas, Aathira, Anisha, Ajmal, Ram Raveendran, Muhammad Usman, Rashad Qureshi, and Lalkumar Alappuzha. The Rhythm Orchestra, led by Binu, added depth and color to the melodies, with sound engineer Ranjith ensuring the songs resonated with clarity and emotion. The program’s charm was elevated by presenter Subina Vijay, who gracefully introduced Gramophone Qatar and its visionary, Dr. Rasheed Pattath.

During the event, organizers announced that the Gramophone Qatar Annual Award will henceforth be known as the Muhammad Isa Memorial Annual Award, in memory of Easakka - a beloved figure in Qatar’s artistic and cultural scene. The inaugural award was presented to AVM Unni, a veteran of theater and literature, while singer Shivapriya, a former Asianet Star Singer finalist, was also honored. Expressing gratitude to all supporters, the organizers - Dr. Rasheed Pattath, K. R. Jayaraj, Shamsudeen Pazhuvil, Makhdoom, Muhammad Usman, Rashad Qureshi, Suresh Kumar Vannarath, and Niyas Rahman - reaffirmed Gramophone Qatar’s commitment to nurturing art and preserving the legacy of Malayalam music.
