Doha: To foster students' interest in Hindi and as part of the Hindi Day celebrations, M.E.S. Indian School organised CHETANA 2026 – Interschool Hindi Competitions on Monday, 14th September 2026, at the Conference Hall.

Dr Hameeda Kadar, Principal, M.E.S Indian School, inaugurated the competitions and emphasised that Hindi is a source of pride and a vital symbol of identity. She highlighted the importance of promoting and preserving Hindi among the younger generation.

The competitions featured Elocution for the Junior Category, Recitation for the Intermediate Category, and Short Story Writing for the Senior Category, with 50 students representing 18 Indian schools across Qatar participating enthusiastically.

The distinguished panel of judges comprised Ms Meenu Parashar Mansi, acclaimed poet, writer and language trainer; Ms Shalini Garg, Hindi literary activist and Ms Arti Singh, educator and writer.

The winners of the various literary competitions were announced in recognition of their outstanding performances.

In the Senior Category – Short Story Writing, Eva Rajesh Nimkar of Podar Pearl School secured the First Position, followed by Shivansh Parvat of Olive International School in the Second Position and Navya Dev of Loyola International School in the Third Position.

In the Intermediate Category – Recitation, Richa Joshi of Ideal Indian School emerged First, while Aayesha Shabeer of Bhavans Public School and Maithili Devang Phatak of D.P.S. Modern Indian School secured the Second and Third Positions, respectively.

In the Junior Category – Elocution, Haneen Fathima of M.E.S. Indian School won the First Position, followed by Aidvaita Jaydeep Nair of Podar Public School in Second Place and Ahad Ahmad Bhora of Rajagiri Public School in Third Place.

The students of M.E.S presented various cultural programmes to entertain the audience. The theme song from the Boys' Section, Group Dance from the Girls' Section and 'Ek Nayee soch' from the Evening Section were the main attractions on the stage.

The CHETANA 2026 Felicitation Ceremony was held the same day at the Conference Hall of M.E.S. Indian School. Mr Harish Pandey, First Secretary (Education and Culture), Embassy of India, graced the occasion as Chief Guest and urged students to respect all languages while remaining rooted in their cultural heritage.

Feliciting the winners by presenting certificates and trophies, he encouraged students to use Hindi in their daily lives and highlighted its growing relevance in the modern world.

Dr Hameeda Kadar, Principal, M.E.S. Indian School released SPHOORTI 2026, the Hindi magazine providing a platform for students and teachers to showcase their linguistic and creative talents.

Earlier, Ms Sibby John, Teacher, Department of Hindi, Junior Section, introduced the programme, while Mr Sameer Pandey, Teacher, Department of Hindi, Boys' Section, briefed the gathering on CHETANA 2026.

Mr Rajesh K.S., Teacher, Department of Hindi, Boys' Section, introduced the distinguished panel of judges, and Ms Pradnya Pandey, Teacher, Department of Hindi, Junior Section, announced the results.

The Welcome Address was delivered by Master Mohammed Zahir Panwala (VIII), while Miss Sara Gigani (IX) proposed a Vote of Thanks. Mr Rajendran S, and Ms Renuka Giridharan, Coordinators, Department of Hindi, effectively coordinated along with a team of teachers for the success of the event.
