Minister S. Jaishankar concluded a four-day diplomatic mission to Mauritius and
the UAE on Sunday, highlighting the resilience of the India-UAE strategic
partnership. During his visit to Abu Dhabi, Jaishankar met with UAE President
HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the Crown Prince of Dubai, HH Sheikh
Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, to review bilateral initiatives in trade and
energy.
The Minister delivered
a message from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, emphasizing the importance of
regional stability and security in light of recent geopolitical challenges in
the Gulf. Jaishankar noted that despite a complex regional environment, the
dialogue between the two nations remains transparent and robust.
A central focus of the discussions was the welfare of the Indian diaspora. Jaishankar shared feedback from the expatriate community with the UAE leadership, expressing gratitude for the care provided to Indian citizens during recent periods of regional hostility. The visit, which followed his participation in the 9th Indian Ocean Conference in Mauritius, reinforces the deep-rooted economic and social ties between India and one of its most significant regional partners.
