ICC and QIA host grand Live Screening of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final

Doha: The Indian Cultural Centre (ICC), in association with the Qatar Indian Association (QIA), successfully hosted a grand live screening of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final at ICC's Ashoka Hall on Sunday, bringing together hundreds of football enthusiasts from the Indian expatriate community for an unforgettable night of sporting excitement. The event transformed the venue into a vibrant football arena as families, women, children and fans gathered to watch the historic final between Spain and Argentina on a giant LED screen.

The thrilling championship clash attracted an enthusiastic audience, with Argentina supporters forming the majority of the crowd, while many neutral football lovers also joined to witness football's biggest spectacle. The atmosphere remained electric throughout the match, culminating in Spain's dramatic victory after extra time to claim their second FIFA World Cup title. The shared excitement and passion for the game made the evening a memorable celebration of football and community spirit.

Adding to the excitement, ICC and QIA organised a "Predict & Win" Contest, which received an overwhelming response from attendees. Participants enthusiastically predicted the outcome of the final, making the event even more engaging and interactive. The winners were honoured with commemorative medals during a special prize distribution ceremony presented by A.P. Manikantan, President of the Indian Cultural Centre (ICC).

The event was attended by Shri Vibhav A. Tandale, Head of Chancery and Consular at the Embassy of India; A.P. Manikantan, President of ICC; Ashif Hameed, President of the Qatar Indian Association (QIA); and Sudenthu Pal, Vice President of the Indian Sports Centre (ISC). They were joined by office bearers and representatives of ICC, QIA and ISC, along with distinguished members of the Indian community in Qatar, reflecting the strong spirit of unity and community participation.

Speaking on the occasion, Ashif Hameed said QIA remains committed to promoting sports and strengthening community engagement through major international sporting events. He noted that, alongside encouraging active participation in sports, the association aims to bring people together through shared experiences such as the FIFA World Cup Final screening. He also announced that QIA has planned a series of sporting events and tournaments throughout 2026, reaffirming its commitment to fostering sportsmanship, healthy living and unity among the Indian community in Qatar. The successful collaboration between ICC and QIA once again highlighted the power of sport in connecting people across generations and backgrounds.
