The Indian Cultural Centre (ICC), functioning
under the aegis of the Embassy of India in Qatar, will host "Janaki
Smrithi," a special musical tribute to the legendary playback singer S.
Janaki, on Thursday, 3rd September 2026, at 7:00 pm. The event, titled "An
Evening of Immortal Melodies," will take place at the ICC Ashoka Hall and
promises to be a soulful evening celebrating the timeless voice and enduring
musical legacy of the late singer, who enthralled generations of listeners with
her renditions across multiple South Indian languages.
The programme
is being organised by the ICC Management Committee as a heartfelt homage to one
of Indian playback music's most cherished voices, whose contribution to the
film music industry spans several decades and continues to resonate with music
lovers across the world. The evening will feature performances of some of her
most memorable songs, offering the audience an opportunity to relive the magic
of her melodies in a live setting.
Members of the Indian community and music enthusiasts in Qatar have been invited to attend the tribute.
