Pravasi Welfare NORKA Campaign concludes after serving thousands

Doha: The Pravasi Welfare NORKA campaign, organised to promote NORKA Roots’ welfare schemes, including NORKA ID Cards, NORKA Care and NORKA Care Plus insurance, has concluded in Qatar. The campaign also aimed to help expatriate Keralites join the ICBF insurance scheme and access various welfare services.

ICBF President Shanavas Bava inaugurated the closing ceremony, while ICBF Vice President Rasheed Ahmed was the chief guest. Pravasi Welfare Acting President Ahmed Shafi presided over the function, and Vice President Anees Rahman welcomed the gathering. Documents of those who joined the ICBF insurance scheme during the campaign were handed over, while NORKA cards were distributed and the volunteers who served at the help desk were honoured.

Pravasi Welfare NORKA Cell Convener Shamsu Vayeri explained the NORKA Care Insurance Scheme, while Help Desk Coordinator Shuaib KP proposed the vote of thanks. Pravasi Welfare office-bearers also welcomed new members who joined the organisation through the campaign. State Vice Presidents Latha Krishna and Abdul Gafoor A.R., State Secretaries Rahim Vengeri, Maqbool Ahmed and Shuaib Kannur, and State Committee Members Sadiq Chennadan, Shameer V.K., Kajan Johnson and Sajna Saki attended the programme.

Nadumuttam President Sana Naseem and General Secretary Fatima Tasneem were also present, along with other office-bearers and members. The campaign, held from August 1 to 20, operated a special help desk every day at the Pravasi Welfare Office in Nuaija to assist expatriates with registrations and clarify their queries.

Around 2,000 people benefited from the help desk during the campaign. More than 1,000 NORKA Card applications, 400 new Pravasi Welfare Pension applications and 200 ICBF insurance applications were received. Assistance was also provided for opening NRI accounts, with district committees and NORKA Wing volunteers leading the help desk activities.
